First Flight Insurance Group

Our History

First Flight Insurance Group, Inc. is an insurance brokerage firm offering specialty insurance programs throughout the United States.  The principals of First Flight have over 50 years of combined experience in the insurance industry.  Our experience led us to see the need for specialty insurance programs, insured through reliable insurance companies, for certain difficult-to-place risks.  The companies we represent are "A Rated", admitted and/or approved in most states.
The insurance needs of the consumer are changing, and First Flight is poised to address the challenge of insuring those changing needs.  First Flight, located in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina (home of the Wright Brothers' first flight), is at the forefront of innovative insurance programs.  We are a dynamic operation committed to providing our clients with obtainable and sustainable products and services.
With an insurance background solidly based upon his years of retail insurance experience as President of Souithern Insurance Agency Inc., founded in 1890, Robert Wells founded First Flight in September 1996 to provide independent retail agents and wholesale brokers with a viable and competitive insurance market for safety conscious air, aquatic and land recreational operations.

First Flight has developed programs, risk management tools and controls that serve the insurance needs of the commercial recreational industry by partnering with recreational sports associations such as the WSIA, as well as consulting with claims and legal experts within the discipline.  Presently, First Flight insures aquatic and land-based recreational operations.
